Configuring client using cc_config.xml file

Hi all,
There is this excellent info. about using cc_config which should be in the FAQ somewhere. http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?langu...aa214d5c649b8cc7b61eebf4b
If we have it, please point towards it or make a sticky post somewhere as its really useful giving attribution to the author/site etc. :)

Re: Configuring client using cc_config.xml file

The FAQ resource has been plastered over the forum thru my sig below for some time now (including posts in threads you started previously!). Little bits were revealed about one or the other setting in the fora, to include the Start Here forum. Beyond that, no need to expand / duplicate as all the regular user settings will be controllable directly from preferences screens included in the next recommended BOINC release, presently still in pre-Beta state. AND the first word is tell tale in the specific control file FAQ: WARNING!

oops, didnt see that, sorry the issue had been I have just updated to Gutsy Tribe 1 late night yesterday so was getting ready to do crunching all over again with new WUnits :) The issue which happened was I tried to check in search for checkpointing as I remember little but not the whole syntax. Hence when to the Start Here page & looked all the 3 pages but nothing was given with the subject line cc_config.xml . As I under the next recommended release is still some time away, (cannot wait for it though ;) ) Anyway thank you for your kind words :)

Shirish,

Actually the checkpoint log setting is mentioned in that subject's post (with a link to the official cc_config.xml wiki):

Re: Configuring client using cc_config.xml file

ah yes, finally got that thread, put it in my favorites as well as watch thread so it won't go missing now for sure.

<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<checkpoint_debug>1</checkpoint_debug>
<task_debug>1</task_debug>
</log_flags>
</cc_config>
:)

I do hope there is a way for the credit to be updated by itself. I'm hoping this will get covered in the newer version.

Re: Configuring client using cc_config.xml file

Here's my minimalistic version including a line that maintains the statistics tab graphs for 90 days instead of the default 30.
<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<checkpoint_debug>1</checkpoint_debug>
</log_flags>
<options>
<save_stats_days>90</save_stats_days>
</options>
</cc_config>

The task debug flag should be set to '0' unless you need extra diagnostics. Just creates loads of unnecessary entries. To emphasize, the bolded line only works on client version 5.8.16 and up and was created specifically to get checkpoints only.

The credit.... (?) Are you talking about the task reporting? The agent only shows the credits up to inclusive the last time it communicated with the servers and only for work which was validated up until that point.
