Re: Running 2 dule CPUs (EDITED)

what is the value in your device profile? You can check in the global_prefs.xml how much cores BOINC thinks that are permitted. The value to look for is:

<max_cpus>?</max_cpus>

Re: Running 2 dule CPUs (EDITED)

Yes and which 'venue' is your client attached to as the value can appear several times in the file. My work venue says 2, my home venue says 1

assume you have several jobs ready to start in the queue? Have you got enough ram to run 4.... read about this phenomena on BOINC dev.

A utility like CPU-Z would tell how many CPU's/cores can be seen.

Re: Running 2 dule CPUs (EDITED)

This won't solve your problem directly, but I believe it will help. It's the free utility What's Running

This will give you more information about processes running in your system than you will know what to do with. It will show you which cpu something is running on and every other piece of information you could possibly want.

And you can't beat the price

FREE!!! FREE!!! FREE!!! FREE!!! FREE!!!

The site is legit - found out about them through PC Magazine - see An Eye Inside Your PC and follow the link from there if you prefer.

Yep.

Win2K doesn't understand hyperthreading without a driver from AMD or Intel (if they exist)

Re: Running 2 dule CPUs (EDITED)

Win 2k can run a max of 2 CPUs or CPU cores.
XP can run more (max = ??).
At least some versions of Linux/Unix can run up to 1024.

(Slightly off-topic, but it may help someone: If you upgrade from 1 to 2 cores with Win 2k, you have to tell it manually about the upgrade: in Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Computer, set it to "(ACPI) Multiprocessor CPU")
