Kicking the validator tires

Does someone need to "kick the tires" on the FAAH validators? I noticed I have a WU with all three results in Pending Validation for a couple of hours now.

HOURS??? It may be several days before the other members running those same workunits decide to send them in.

The simple answer is to keep crunching. It's WAAAY to early to tell whether there is a problem.

I was assuming BOINC, which does multiple workunit averaging. There could be something to wonder about if this is the UD version, which should assign points immediately.

This was posted in the website (structure of wcg or forum) thread instead of either the BOINC thread, UD thread, or project thread, so I wondered.

Keith, i think what you see is what I've seen the last couple of days for all projects. 3 or 15 whatever the quorum minimum sitting in PV for several hours. Even if HPF2 number 16 and up comes in, the validation takes a while, but at all times I've never in the present seen the delay go beyond the beginning of the statistics run. Long as new work is received in replacement, I'm contend.

For now, i read in the CA room that some non-essential scripts were taken out to deal with inexplicable server loads. Validators ran with pauses in 1 minute cycles.... that function may have been temporarily sacrificed.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

laughing retsof, I understand the validation process. If you look at the WU in Results Status, the entries for all three users, not just mine, has Pending Validation. All three different users have returned the WU.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

The transitioner is running a little behind right now, but it's catching up.

The new DB has been like a rollercoaster: blazing fast when it's going downhill, but much slower going back up. Now is one of those slower times. We're trying to figure it out.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

Could this problem be back? It's an HPF2 WU this time.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

Hope the end of day pre-stat activity will set things in motion, but as it is at least since 08:36 UTC or thereabout, fear manual intervention is required. At any rate, presently it seems ltd to HPF2 and made a report in the back room when first observed.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

Well, it's a hour before the stats start. If the pre-stat work fixes this, it still is unlikely to have time to catch up I suspect. Today's stats will probably be off but that will correct when things are fixed. The real concern is that there may be other more serious problems.

Re: Kicking the validator tires

Its been kicked. HPF2 workunits have been validated (and it only took about 20 minutes to catch up).

Unfortunately, it wasn't kicked before the stats ran so these numbers will be included in tomorrows totals (it is about 21 years of runtime).
