For some reason, I'm no longer downloading WUs for WCG. According to my message log, WCG isn't even connecting to check for more work at all. The only time it does is when I force it to, and the messages look like this:
Sat May 26 13:27:18 2007|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user Sat May 26 13:27:18 2007|World Community Grid|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) Sat May 26 13:27:23 2007|World Community Grid|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 509] Sat May 26 13:27:23 2007|World Community Grid|Deferring communication for 5 min 3 sec Sat May 26 13:27:23 2007|World Community Grid|Reason: requested by project After I do this, it doesn't try to reconnect at all. Or, if it does, it doesn't put any messages in the log for me to see. There were no other messages in the log from WCG from the time I posted above until now. Other projects are working just fine, connecting and chugging through their WUs, so it seems it's isolated to something with WCG. I'm running on a Mac, but that's never been an issue before, either. |

In doing a little more research on this, I realized I was having the same issue with my Einstein@Home project, too. I browsed their forums and it turns out that it's an issue with the debt system Boinc employs. There was a link to check my current status and I found out that I'm simply "caught up" on WCG and Einstein, so it's not a problem - it was just an issue of my misunderstanding how it all works! :)

Heh - didn't realize changing my profile name didn't apply backwards.

that's fine. A number of parameters that control work for one or the other reason can get highly inflated. You seem to operate under several handles, so it's not easy to check at BOINCstats what you got running. You last handle logged last work for WCG at 5/19. Project resets restore default values for most, but not all parms that regulate work v.v. other projects.

My BOINCstats page is here if that would help. I think there are 2 things that happened for me. 1) I had turned SETI off for quite a while and just turned it back on, so it had a lot of debt piled up; and 2) I just added Leiden Classical, so it's getting caught up a little bit, too.
I went ahead and did a reset on WCG and SETI, since SETI is what seemed to be throwing my numbers off-kilter. I'm gonna let it run for a couple weeks and see how it all kind of settles out at that point. Sorry about the change in name. I hadn't used the forums before, so hadn't seen what it was using as my name on here. Just wanted it to be "me" instead of just my email addy. :) |

I'm a curious type.... think your email address under Momofunk is different from that at the other 3 projects you run, as WCG does not show in your BOINCstats roll-up (when just looking for Momofunk). Your CPID that controls this consolidation is based on the email address which is best maintained all in lower case. If you put the same email address for thinker44 in the WCG profile, any BOINC points earned with that handle would also add to your momofunk totals. Having 1 address also ensures that any mails and newsletters from WCG would only be send 1 time.

Sekerob,
I was about to report the same problem, which the reset you suggested promptly fixed. Among my last set of downloads (before the reset) was a checksum error. Even though two good downloads immediately followed, was the bad one, which I aborted, the reason for not being able to get more work before resetting the project? Thanks |

Don't know, but it would be logical, long as the other 2 were not completed and returned. The >= 5.8 clients keep track of the work in the queue and has a WCG default size of 7.2 hours (0.3 days). Having 3 seems on a single core PC, for the shortest projects pretty much close to the maximum number if you run WCG only.
----------------------------------------Resetting a project AFAIK, will remove all WCG related project files and returns client settings and most accumulators - Short Term Debt e.g. - to normal or zero. Jobs in progress will be lost, but as long as individual work units are not aborted in the Tasks tab, all other jobs previously 'scheduled' on the client, will be re-downloaded.
