Each team should be able to have a private forum for team discussions, accessible on the team page. This would enhance the cohesiveness of the team, leading to an increase in the team's competitiveness. As a result, more crunching is done for the WCG overall, and I'm willing to bet that the increase would be significant. I'm sure a forums add-on for about 16k teams wouldn't actually be that difficult/expensive to do. When you consider the scale of the contribution that's being made - over 200 years of cpu time a DAY – one realizes that such is not that much to ask. In any case, teams should also have access to more detailed statistics, I think we can all agree on that.

I think adding a private forum for every team here would involve more than we suspect - perhaps one of the CA's or Techs can comment on that aspect.
What detailed stats are you looking for in particular? |

Some teams have private forums (forae) elsewhere, pointed to by the home page link on their team page.

Private, not viewable forum for whom? Who's the gatekeeper to stop joining a team and snoop or start back-room wars? What standard of conduct and who's to monitor and moderate? Personally I think it's a bridge too far to ask, short and simple.
----------------------------------------You could join a big team that has a hush hush part or set up your own like e.g. the 2 man Labyrinth team did. My team has a big forum, but as far as i know except for the admins having a separate fenced off section, all public is welcome to come read whatever is discussed. On stimulation, soon there will be a team competition feature added.... watch the member news space for announcement. Added: Detailed statistics.... Someone was about that in another thread just today. If all members of a team would switch to BOINC, very detailed analysis and graphs can be seen at a number of 3rd party maintained statistics sites that cover many DC projects.

Good points - I suppose it is more practical to have team forums on a seperate team website. My team isn't quite large enough to merit a proper site/forums, but hopefully we'll get there and have one made eventually.
----------------------------------------As for the stats, I was thinking that members of a team should be able to see each other's specific device stats. ![]() |

Have a look here: http://www.boincstats.com/stats/user_stats.ph...amp;to=100&ti=12830#2 and mouse around the Windy City teams details. The members need to 'unhide' their hosts to see device performance and as said, run BOINC exclusively, then apply the factor 7 multiplicator to arrive at WCG points http://www.boincstats.com/stats/user_graph.php?pr=wcg&id=234462

Wow, sweet stats I must admit. The WCG site should support/show stats like that!

WOW and absolutely awesome. These stats are great and have been book marked. Interesting that these stats show a higher team ranking than I thought I had achieved. This definitely adds some extra incentive to light the dual 2.3 (3.2?) ghz Xeon machine I am an admin on ..... using the boinc agent of course. This machine runs 24x7, but is rarely used outside a noon to 8pm window. |

You have to remember that these are Boinc stats only - if you have team members using the WCG Grid agent as well the they will not be included. Free-DC have limited team stats for all WCG points (Boinc&Grid Agent) - but it only follows those teams that have requested to be included - you need to submit a request using the 'Submit Bug/Request' link to get your team added. |

Might be cool if the WCG website could some how adopt/clone the BIONC stats, they've got to be in there somewhere. :)
