There are a number of us who would like to see a 'Caring and Sharing' forum being made available.
A place where we can post about friends and family who suffer from Cancer, and other illnesses, and more importantly, support others who are struggling with these illnesses. There used to be a 'Caring Sharing' forum at UD, and still is on several other boards. I hope that it can be set up. Thanks in advance |

The "chat room" area is our free-form place. Go for it.
----------------------------------------Please feel free to start a thread there. It can be several threads for several diseases or types of caring, prayers, treatments or wishes. Who knows? Cancer is a universal concern, but as our next cancer-related project kicks in, more will want to do something like this. The fight aids @ home project generated a lot of AIDS related interest. Haldav (ex Cummerbund) has started his game threads there. If the number of messages becomes large, the powers-that-be may decide to split things out into a new area, but start there for now. From experience, ask for a lock and start another if the thread exceeds 500 messages. Response time will get very slow. As the thread evolves, the poster of the first message can edit it and change the title for something like 60 days if the subject needs to be different.

We don´t think that the chat room would the right forum as John pointed out for ;
"A place where we can post about friends and family who suffer from Cancer, and other illnesses, and more importantly, support others who are struggling with these illnesses." We are only asking for a new place to be implemented, or is that to much to ask for ... Thanks |

My opinion:
----------------------------------------This is a DC web site. There are many other sites where a forum such as that may be found. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 20, 2007 12:22:11 AM] |

I personally wouldn't want to have to wade through a lot of jokes, games and other inapropriate 'nonsense' to offer comfort and prayers to someone who had lost a loved one.
In a hospital you don't talk to relatives of bereaved and seriously ill patients in the middle of a busy ward. |

My opinion: This is a DC web site. There are many other sites where a forum such as that may be found. World Community Grid Every community has it's places of entertainment, it's shops etc. It should also contain a place where you can go to to talk about lost loved ones, and friends that are ill |

I personally wouldn't want to have to wade through a lot of jokes, games and other inapropriate 'nonsense' to offer comfort and prayers to someone who had lost a loved one. All we advisors can offer is advice. The suggestion will be here for the IBM moderators to peruse as they want. I asked them to take a look if they haven't already. The same types of inappropriate nonsense was back at grid.org and some of the same people even participate here. The forum here is a lot smaller. It has to start somewhere. The grid.org forum self destructed after two days. All projects, questions, answers, games, caring and sharing are gone.In a hospital you don't talk to relatives of bereaved and seriously ill patients in the middle of a busy ward. Don't tell me about hospitals. The small town hospitals last gave my father barium enemas. That was insufficient to find the brain tumors since it was done at the wrong end. He went to a larger place for scans and a cancer operation. They found a slow growing brain tumor and a fast growing branched brain tumor that caused most of the problems. The surgeon removed all that he could. My father died of their hospital staph infection before any treatment could begin. Too many doctors and staff shaking hands and spreading stuff around, I suspect. That's where my family heard about my father's death -- in the middle of their busy ward.
