I have always seen it at 10 mn too since I activated the checkpoint logging long ago. On a P4 HT 2.4 gHz. Edit: 1.5 gB RAM.

Now I'm starting to think it's the BOINC parm... writing to Disk every 999 seconds.

That must be it. GC tries to checkpoint every 600 seconds. When BOINC allows disk writing only once every 999 seconds, it means a check point is written every 1200 seconds. I suggest allowing BOINC to write every 60 seconds. This will keep the hard disk relatively free and will not stop checkpointing. Added: We had better caution our members somewhere that this BOINC option can stop check points from being written. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 16, 2007 6:00:12 PM] |

Seconded..... I'm though fine with what I have and add some commentary to the Start Here - Checkpoint Saving post, effecting BOINC only.

I have used both task_debug flag as well as checkpoint_flag as checkpoint didn't work properly before. I do hope that 5.10 does make a separate log file so instead of taking messages from BOINC manager which are available only during the run one can see also it with human readable time just like above. |
