Re: The Formula One Thread

But he is the one choosen and back as posted above ....

So maybe i am blind, but i don't see a post concerning Ralf Schumacher...

I wrote: Ralf Schumacher also thinks about returning to F1...
In my opinion, this is not a good idea, there are a few more talented drivers.

Re: The Formula One Thread

Whoever emerges as a contender, it'll be an interesting season with no refuelling, grid position is going to be more important than ever as they don't yet seem to have solved the problem of overtaking.
I think my money is on McLaren.

I think MS will be perfect for this type of season. IMO he was always very good when he needed to be, ie pit in lap, pit out lap, when he needed to make up 2.5 seconds per lap for 3 laps he could turn it up and do it. With no refueling but tire changes still mandated, I think he will be able to maximize the cars potential. I think alot of the newer guys just cruise around waiting for a pit stop to fix their problems with traffic etc. Now passing will still be an issue, but MS was always able to put the car exactly where he wanted it to be. Kind of like that old Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds movie when Sly threw quarters on the track and then picked up each with his tires.

Re: The Formula One Thread

Lewis Hamilton, it is safe to assume, will be having a very happy Christmas this year.
When he started his Formula 1 career in 2007, the man who became F1's youngest world champion said his one regret was that he never got to race against Michael Schumacher. Now, following the German legend's decision to come out of retirement and race for Mercedes in 2010, Hamilton can fulfil his ambition.
For those of us watching from the sidelines, Schumacher's return is an equally mouth-watering prospect.
At 41, Schumacher will not only renew his battles with Fernando Alonso - the man who beat him in a straight fight for the world title in his final season in F1 in 2006 - but start new ones with Hamilton, Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and the new world champion Jenson Button, whose cars rarely afforded him the chance to take on Schumacher before.

Re: The Formula One Thread

Although I'm a Brit and admire Button, I feel a tad worried when he gets a National Award recognition after one really successful season. I think he may find next year much tougher.

Oh yeah!!!! I think his was a season of many ups and downs and if he hadn't built up an almost insurmountable lead in the beginning, may not be the Champ he is today! I cannot say everything was his fault, he did have some accidents where he was not at fault that kicked him out of races, he did have some other car failures that also removed him from some races. But in some races he just did not seem to have the fortitude needed to compete for the win! In short in some races it seemed like he was just a guy driving around having a nice leisurely drive in the country. I think he needs some direct competition, where he is physically competing every lap for position against a car that he can physically see. Not a race where he is trying to improve position on a car that is half a lap away. In some races though he was just outstanding and drove like the Champ he is!!!

Well he will not be remembered as one of the greatest champs. It was pretty obvious that they had a huge advantage with the car.
Which is the reason why he went to McLaren, to proof he can really do it, against Lewis, and he will probably fail to impress me or he would really surprise me.

Re: The Formula One Thread

I just think you may be a fan René but the old man may have more competition than when he last drove in anger.

Anger? confused Yes it will be an interesting season with all the new teams and drivers for sure, that's what I like about it, but there was competition back then as well, remember Mika.
Let's face it, a season with Schumi makes F1 much more interesting.
