Re: WINDOWS NT ???? Grid Agent dont work?

hi,
could you explain what you meant by "dont start crunching", ie. what message is the client showing?
actually, i have problem with a NT machine also, it does the crunching, but seems never able to finish a wu confused , it just quits half way, restarts or download a new wu, and repeat the process.
In the "Systems requirements" for WCG, NT is not listed, only XP, 2K, ME/98.
I wonder if anyone is crunching ok with NT?

PohSoon, if you go to ‘Software Features’ and then to ‘Points System’ at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/join_now/points_system.html then down to the heading: ‘Why are points not updated even though new work units have been downloaded?’ it discusses situations like yours.

mattd, could you give us more information? Other people do not have problems with Windows NT, so this may be an installation problem as on http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1319#6266

Re: WINDOWS NT ???? Grid Agent dont work?

Hi,

I'am running the Grid client on four machines with, unfortually, with four different versions of "MS-something" 1 machine is running W2K, 1 is running XP-home, 1 uses XP-Pro and one is doing the job running NT 4.0 devilish

OK, it seems like a bit of a mess but it works OK for me because I like to play around with different OS systems..... wink

All machines are working fine without any problems so far .. biggrin and my bunch ( 1x P4, 2xP3 and 1 AMD 2000 ) have returned 48 results until now blushing

I am running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2. When Microsoft released the monthly patch on the second Tuesday of the month, I exited from the Agent and downloaded the patch. Unless my memory is wrong, it did not require a reboot. I sneered and rebooted anyway. My WCG Agent came up and has been running happily ever since.

Have you tried to shut down your computer and reboot?

What are the symptoms?
