Ok, I have the following problem:
I have an amd64, Cool n' Quiet on, so the clock speed varies from 800 to 2000. The device information thing shows my pc at 800mhz, and it compares 100 to the reference pc, which is a 1.5ghz P4. (Which allready is wrong since obviously a 1.5ghz P4 would outnumber a 800mhz athlon) 2nd thing: I have 200gb sata disk space, about 5 gb free on the partition where wcg is installed, another 4gb on another partition and 10gb unallocated. So where does wcg get the Idea I have 0.98gb? I get 20 "strength points" for my HD with 15gb free space compared to a 5gb hd. Due to these problems, if I have understood correctly, I loose lots of points, since points = Computer Strength * runtime, and my strength is obviously completely miscalculated. |

Several points to reply to:
First, the Device Comparison is not really up-to-date on processor models. It runs a quick test to see how much computation is accomplished in a given amount of time. This test will be run with each result, and can be seriously affected by foreground processes. My personal experience is that the first test is always low. I suspect that the first test is run while the installation process is still active. Secondly, the default installation profile allocates 1 GB (0.98 GB). You can go to your Device Profile in the website Member Area and change that. The change will be downloaded to your Agent with the next Work Unit. [It is kept in the secured area of the site and handled this way so that other people cannot fiddle with your settings unless they have your password.] But the term Allocation is a misnomer here. This is really Authorization. You are authorizing the WCG to use that much space on your hard drive if some project needs it. The current files generated by Rosetta fit into 50 MB. Hope this answers your question. Lawrence |

The reporting of processor performance against a comparison device has been discussed in several threads in the forum. Take a look at this thread for more information http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=711 . Your second item has also been discussed. What is being reported is what has been set in the device profile for your system. You can adjust this setting by going to the Member Page and selecting the Device Manager from the list at the left and then Device Profiles. This will produce a list of the profiles for your system(s). Select the one you wish to change and you will see the hard drive space allocation right below the profile name. Click open the pull-down and you can choose a different value if you wish. If you are seeing .98 Gig reported on the WCG Agent, your profile is presently set to 1 Gig. After selecting the value you wish to use, be sure to hit save. The value will be adjusted the next time your system completes a work unit and communicates with the server. |

Ah, ok, thanks. I would consider renaming it since the term Storage is quite missleading.
