Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Ooops almost forgot it's

IVANS BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Go Easy on the bottle opener!!! wink

Many many happy returns Ivan
A very good morning to one and all hugs welcome to a new day.

Talk of the cold reminded me of this poem it reflects my own childhood;

Home at Last

We struggled round shops in cold rainy weather,
My mum and my brother and me together;
Then when we got home , we found that our dad
Had made up a fire - oh, weren't we glad!.

I wriggled at bathtime right out of my clothes,
And mum put some cream on my sore runny nose.
The water was hot, but I still felt freezing; While mum got me dry, I couldn't stop sneezing.

I dugged down close and cuddled my mum,
She read me a story and I sucked my thumb;
Outside our house the wind howled round,
And I could hear rain splashing down on the ground.

I snuggled and duggled, deep down in my bed,
I pulled the covers right over my head;
Outside I could hear the wild roaring storm.
But there in my bed it was all nice and warm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'The good ol' days', no central heating, frozen pipes, windows so frosty you couldn't see thru'
and that hole in my shoe that let in the wet,
through rain, snow fog or shine -
walking to school 3 miles each way.
We never had it so good!.
Take care all.......... 'The Old Sage' cowboy
Re: The Edwardians have arrived!
Thanks Baron and all of you for your thoughts.
I am now celebrating with you with a glass of champagne with which I toast all Crunchers but, naturally, all Edwardians we happy band of brothers (which of course means sisters just as you guys transcends sex)
enjoying an online friendship and happy joshing while doing something really worthwhile.
I'm proud to be part of the team helping to keep the lower ranks of the table going.
I'm listening to Diana Krall on the beast while typing this and will soon go round to the local Tapas Bar for a mini celebration.
Re: The Edwardians have arrived!
Seems I'm always last to chime in. It's that time zone thing. Maybe we should try and recruit a member from Hawaii.
Happy Boithday, Ivan
BTW, Diana Krall is from this time zone too...about 50 miles west of me.
