Hi Didactylos,
What I asked was not meant to be offensive, it was a straghtforward question to Chip and I'm sure he will understand my curiosity about this, as what I asked is well documented. Dont know why you want to shut me up for asking a reasonable question ? How can we understand stuff if we dont ask questions ? |

Hi Didactylos, answer: cultural relativity that still exists today. What I asked was not meant to be offensive, it was a straghtforward question to Chip and I'm sure he will understand my curiosity about this, as what I asked is well documented. The trouble with religion, ANY religion, is that there will always be those with 'closed' minds and fixed opinions that will NEVER listen to any other point of view. More people have been killed over centuaryies, in the name of religion, than ANY other reason.

answer: cultural relativity that still exists today. But are we not speaking in the terms of deity ? The Bible is no better in places either, painting a picture of a vengeful vicious God. From the koran Recite in the name of your Lord who created ! He created man from that which clings.Recite; and thy Lord is most bountiful,he who taught by the pen, taught man what he knew not. I believe the forum rule that applies here is:
Please do not hijack other member's threads This thread concerns the World Community Grid team: Team Islam. If you have questions about the religion of Islam, or would like to participate in other discussions of religion, please start a new thread in the Chat Room. Please also remember this rule when you start your discussions in the Chat Room: Forum posts may not be obscene, hate related, sexually explicit, express intolerance of others by denigrating others for their race, nationality, gender, beliefs, religion, preferences, or disabilities or use any name that is a trademark or trade name of, or is owned by someone other than you |

"But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." In Sura 8.12, "...I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." 2 Quotes but no personal opinion. My defence ! The first I requoted Nelsoc The second are quotes from the Koran as Chip had posted. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 27, 2007 6:54:32 PM] |

As-Salaam Alaykom (Peace be upon you) Live Free -- Join Islam -- Enter Islam -- The Team Quran 21:35 "Every Soul shall taste death. And We [God] test you with evil and with good as a trial. And unto Us [God] shall you be returned" If you wish to have a proper understading of a verse, then do not dispair. Places like Ibn Kathir Commentary on Quran is <mouse here> sound reading. Remember, each verse of the Quran has a well known situation in which it was brought, and the scope of application of the verse is regulated accordingly. Muslim obeyance of God depends on passing the test of proper knowledge as in the verse above.
