How do i attach my linux BOINC client to the WCG and my account key?

"To attach your BOINC agent to World Community Grid, you'll need the following information:
Project URL: www.worldcommunitygrid.org
Member Name: Alexarc"
OK.
But where the **** do i enter my member name when installing the linux client? There is not so much as an indication of where to do this in the linux install "help".

Now I get a message from the server about an invalid or missing account key, duh.

Re: How do i attach my linux BOINC client to the WCG and my account key?

Hi,

There a number of recent threads on the forum discussing BOINC install on Linux mentioning a Synaptic package manager...you might want to find those

The page u landed, which is probably this one had a page before that, where the download was started. It said there that you should have received an email. You might want to find that.

Presume the BOINC package u downloaded said version 5.8.15, but i understand you're better off with the latest standard version issued by Berkeley 5.8.16: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.8.16_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh

All i know from reading the Linux install is, that there is a command line way and a Standard GUI way of doing it. You don't say which one you are using. Latter has an 'Advanced' menu with an 'Attach to Project' option, which should do it.

The account key you can find in My Grid > My Profile. Normally WCG attaching only requires the 2 pieces you already gave and the password.

Hopefully a Linux expert comes on the boards soon. (S)He will be interested to know what Linux andversion u have too.

cheers

Edit: recommendation reverted to earlier Linux version!
