Because js is ugly. And is untabbable (at least in Firefox, IE7 is fine). And so I can compare different work units quickly rather than open, close, open, close, repeat. |

Ugly or not, do you have the newest program? Java is requesting this week that I download a new version.
----------------------------------------js = javascript or Java Services? Javascript doesn't seem to change much.

The work unit data link have nothing to do with Java. I have the latest Mozilla (javascript) and latest Sun (Java).
What I mean is that on https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewBoincResults.do it would be preferable if those links were in tabbable links rather than javascript links (meaning no tabs and force to be in a new windows, making it hard to compare different work units since a new work unit overwrites the other work unit windows). |

The explicit design looks to be to have all the WU quorum detail that are selected consecutively, to open in a single pop-up. If the browser is configured to have pop-ups open in a tab, all WU detail will open in that single tab. At end of session one would only have to close 1 tab or pop-up.
----------------------------------------There are 2 changes which could find support to add/change. 1. If not closing the pop-up by selecting the 'close' option and tabbing back to the Results summary page and selecting the next WU, focus should switch to the already existing WU detail tab. Presently it does not (dont know if all have the same experience) 2. A right click to tell it to open in a new tab or pop-up would be useful. Pop up would be preferable as they can be tiled for easy comparison. Tabbing around to look at various WU quorum details is very cumbersome solution, which is why operating an add-in like Autocopy is very handy to collate multiple WU details to the clipboard and past them into e.g. Notepad.....more roads to Rome (second time I type that today ;>)

If the browser is configured to have pop-ups open in a tab, all WU detail will open in that single tab. IE7 has that pref and Mozilla plans on adding that feature. Now, when opening a js link as a tab with Firefox, it opens a blank tab. This is the browser's job to have ability to open in new tab or window. IE7 has adapted to the web but Firefox hasn't. What WCG can do is adapt to the ever growing Mozilla user base by changing it to ?onclick, popup? or something like that. I'm sure I've seen links that are "supposed" to popup in a new window, but don't have "javascript:/link.html" and are tabbable. |
