Would that be a tin can made of aluminum or a tin can made of steel? Even toothpaste tubes are no longer made of tin, but of plastic. Silverware is now usually stainless steel. "Copper" pennies/cents are zinc with a thin copper coating. Since even zinc is now worth more than 1 cent, the government is looking for something even cheaper than that to use.

Re: Leave applications in memory while preempted?

buy a tin of spam and you can be assured there's spam inside and not twinkies..... I'm not going to LIM that tongue

Ernestly, Checkpoints are not forced on exit. The recovery/resume points are always at predestined checkpoints (end of an attempt run, step, model) last saved of which there can be few or many in any WU. We had a series of FAAH without any checkpoints..... imagine the suspense when a job ran was at 99% after 10 hours and Masud's power fail kicked in.... crying

Re: Leave applications in memory while preempted?

Sekerob, so that I won't have to make a new thread clogging these forums wink, if I choose "all projects", is it random which project I get, or does the "mother" determine the best work units for certain PCs? (I'm constantly getting HPF2, with CPU time of ~8 hours, actual time of 12+).

at 82 posts since march 18, your are doing above forum average ..... medals are handed again when reaching 150 laughing

there's one person who has the joystick..... if he does not like you he sends all the 8 hour whoppers your way. If you leave him in peace, he sends a fluctuating mix (see the discussion in I think the GC end of project thread and more places). Rush work is send to proven reliable clients.

The All projects selection sends work as said in a mix. There is no telling which one will come to you as WCG balances the work load so that project progress according optimal schedules, which change all the time.

And that is the final answer LOL
