BOINC and ATI

Hi! This is my first post on the forum.

I didn't found if BOINC can use ATI GPU.. I have a x1950XT that could be very useful... By the way, I'm using BOINC agent plus WCG projects. smile

Any answer are appreciated cool

No. GPUs can only do limited types of crunching, and none of the WCG projects have tried to exploit it yet.

The Folding@Home project is pioneering this. The have designed some very limited work units that will run very fast on an ATI GPU.

Well, I've join a team on WCG, so I don,t think I can be in the same team with folding@home, right?

Are they going to release an update to use GPU? Instead, I'll run Folding@home on my PC, and BOINC on my server cool

Correct me if I'm wrong, but WCG is BOINC, Folding is not, so they would have separate teams, right? Meaning you can join Team A on your PC and Team B on your server?

You can be.... many teams have branches on different projects. The points from the different projects roll up on the e.g BOINC-synergy or BOINCstats.

The GPU question was answered before.....F@H is cutting edge and develops their own science software to run on it. WCG 'hosts' projects 'on behalf of'... the code when WCG gets it is ready to be packaged by WCG to run off the mill Linux, Windows, Mac. Would any one project be proposed to WCG for a GPU platform, i'm sure it would be considered.
