Check those BIOS Batteries

My PC has been running like a dog for about a week and you would think that it must be that updated spyware/antivirus/microsoft upate that you downloaded last week that will be the culprit so you check task manager and as usual hpf2 is sitting at the top with 99% of that CPU, like it is normally, so nothing else has jumped in there to hog your cpu.

thinking

So you think what could it be...last time I had misfitted a memory stick that's what it was only 1/2 the memory...I went to control panel/system and there's my answer 1.1Ghz!! This is a 2.2Ghz PC aka Socket A 3200+

This is my trusty nForce2 Motherboard and yes I know they are on to nForce6 by now and they have slots faster than AGP these days - even new fangled CPU's that can crunch 2 or even 4 Work Units on the same power supply unit. But until this week my year 2002 motherboard simply wasn't sluggish by any stretch of the imagination....but....

Somewhere (over a rainbow) along the way I'd rebooted the PC for one of those, thou shalt reboot your PC, reasons and the old BIOS Battery had unfortunately given it's all and so my PC has been running in safe mode which is way underclocked.

So just a word of advice from a nForce2 running old fool

Check those BIOS Batteries your Work Unit tally might thank you for it.

Take care all

Dave
