Predictor@home is censoring massively at their boards and is restricting the freedom of opinion of their registered users in an inappropriate manner. After a discussion had started about the attitude of the project administration towards a big cheating issue in this thread . That thread was closed immediately to avoid any different opinion. After that any new discussion thread and any question concerning "censorship" were "answered" with the immediate deletion of the postings/threads. Even accounts were fully blocked for posting (in my case until the year 2038!!). I think it is not acceptable that the freedom of opinion is restricted in that way and I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this. Try for yourself and start asking about this all at the P@H message boards! In between even account creation was disabled to prevent the "bad users" from posting further questions. After that didn't help meanwhile whole IP ranges are blocked from access to the complete Predictor homepage! There's an ongoing discussion over at the BOINCstats forum, where also the beginning of this whole mess is to be found. There are members who have registered with multiple names, not knowing that they could rename...... 1 here has had many, most all with zero score.
----------------------------------------THeFT aka Cori(?) was banned till 2038. Now know that is some Unix roll-over date, else DB's program would surely have made it 2199 :O. It will settle. There is balanced discussion on BOINC developers forum for all to see..... no excitement (well a little). Mr DB just had a sensation, what many would have felt if 'mobbed' as he expressed it...... cool and collect and it comes right once Homo Sapiens takes control again of Homo Erectus' urges.

I think ThEfT isn't a WCG cruncher, but was merely trying to spread the news around the DC community. It worked, too. I was about to send a message to boinc_projects but someone from Docking@Home beat me to it.
There's no reason why we shouldn't discuss it too, but I want to avoid the animosity spilling over into our own forums. Sekerob, I think your summary is accurate. |

We could always watch # of posts and crunching points to establish posting credibility.
---------------------------------------- something like Ebay feedback points...  ThEfT sent in 3 results a couple of years ago. The point was that we have enough to do chasing our own issues, without trying to measure predictor@home philosophies.

There is balanced discussion on BOINC developers forum for all to see..... no excitement (well a little). It started cool and without excitement but started to turn ugly. So it's locked on the BOINC forums with a message as to why. Seeing how the last remaining thread on Predictor started to turn ugly, into a fight of who could insult Mr. Braun the best, I talked with mo.v (the original poster of the Trojan thread) and preventively locked the thread on the BOINC forums. By posting this on as many forums as possible, the people who were mad attracted (un)wanted vultures that we usually call trolls. So now they can flame-fight the trolls on Predictor. And eventually all get banned again. ;)

Sounds about right. Still, trolls just end up looking stupid. Wate, on the other hand, is going to end up in jail. Soooner or later....
