Predictor@home is censoring massively at their boards and is restricting the freedom of opinion of their registered users in an inappropriate manner. After a discussion had started about the attitude of the project administration towards a big cheating issue in this thread . That thread was closed immediately to avoid any different opinion.
After that any new discussion thread and any question concerning "censorship" were "answered" with the immediate deletion of the postings/threads. Even accounts were fully blocked for posting (in my case until the year 2038!!). I think it is not acceptable that the freedom of opinion is restricted in that way and I want to ask the BOINC community members to form an opinion about this. Try for yourself and start asking about this all at the P@H message boards! In between even account creation was disabled to prevent the "bad users" from posting further questions. After that didn't help meanwhile whole IP ranges are blocked from access to the complete Predictor homepage! There's an ongoing discussion over at the BOINCstats forum, where also the beginning of this whole mess is to be found. See: Trojan boinc installation by rogue member |

I get the impression that the Predictor admins have not kept up to date with the BOINC mailing list. I'm sure it will be corrected once they figure out what's going on.
As for censorship - we can't see what isn't there, so really there's no possible comment I can make. I think this is a storm in a teacup. There are valid reasons for removing posts and banning people. Equally, there are invalid reasons. So, please don't bring internal disputes to WCG from other projects. It's really none of our business. Feel free to raise this on BOINC's own forums instead. |

Yes, this is the WCG Chat Room
----------------------------------------"A meeting place to chat and discuss issues that members wish to discuss." Move along, you're free to talk about this elswhere-- no freedom here... |

... So, please don't bring internal disputes to WCG from other projects. It's really none of our business. Feel free to raise this on BOINC's own forums instead. Well, the "Trojan boinc installation" issue is concerning the whole BOINC community IMHO and I think the behaviour of the Predictor admin was worth a note on other BOINC based message boards as well. Besides that this thread is posted here in the Chat Room where usually "off-topic" or non-project related things can be discussed. |

We don't censor here - much (although if you break the rules, expect to be edited). I'm just asking people not to bring baggage from other forums.
We discussed the trojan at the time (or was that just the CAs? I forget.) Anyway, it doesn't do the DC community any good to start badmouthing other projects (although we all know our project is the best!) Anyway, in my researches, I noticed that the trojan issue wasn't discussed on boinc_dev or boinc_projects (where it should have been) at the time. I don't know how this happened. A lot of people (including mo.v) assumed that it had been discussed in the email lists. Not to worry though - Dr Anderson is now fully aware of the issue.... and whatever failed to happen in the past, it is being discussed now. Even though it wasn't discussed then, Dr Anderson did notify the affected projects at the time. I don't know how Predictor got overlooked or why they ignored the information. For the record: trojans are illegal. If anybody tries anything like that here, they are likely to find themselves in jail. IBM don't play around; even if the mills of Big Blue grind slowly, they do grind exceeeeedingly small :-) |

Hi D.
----------------------------------------Yes we discussed in the CA room and from what the public record showed BOINC credits were adjusted for the dishonourable person here too.

You seem to be missing much--
----------------------------------------You should change the description of this forum from "A meeting place to chat and discuss issues that members wish to discuss." to something that more fits your view of "user friendliness"... |
