Hi
Is there any way I can get the agent to run while no one is logged in? I work in an environment where sometimes a lot of computers are left on waiting for someone to log-on. I know BOINC can be run as a service - any plans to do the same with UD? Also, I've had to fiddle with security permissions and the registry to get UD to work for all users is there an easier way? Thanks |

I think you can and seen instructions somewhere how to do this 'unsupported' setup. Never done it myself, but just used Tweaknow Startup manager to create a registry entry for an 'AllUser\Run' command. Don't know if U get the systray icon.... doubt it.

Thanks This bit.... move the shortcut icon from the user level menu startup folder to the 'alluser' menu startup folder (use explorer) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menu Start\Programs\Startup\ don't know why permissions would have to be set.

I have to give read/write access to 'domain users' on the WCG installation folder as I've found it doesn't run other wise.
I tried moving the shortcut to the alluser startup folder but i kept getting the 'Another instance of the grid agent is running' message whenever someone logged in. What I've done is created a UD string value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run with the value "c:\program files\worldcommunitygrid\ud.exe" -atboottime |

If u have a registry string set up, than the alluser shortcut would also need removal. further to my earlier post, the alluser\run command did start ud.exe up and created an icon in the systray. The line in the registry is: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "UD_EXEC_FILENAME"="C:\\Program Files\\WorldCommunityGrid\\UD.exe"
