Sorry, I have already searched the forum, but still am totally confused.
I had run UD Windows successfully in the past. I also installed and successfully run UD on my new Acer Aspire 5595 notebook with fully updated Windows XP. 1. Because this new notebook uses Intel T7200 Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz with 1MB RAM, I decided to uninstall UD and install BOINC in order to utilize the two cores. Is this the right decision? According to some forum posts, only BOINC (not UD) can use both cores to increase the processing power of my notebook. Correct? 2. The BOINC version 5.8.15 I just installed on this notebook cannot attach a project from www.worldcommunitygrid.com. It was able to communicate with the project, but failed to login. I am sure my username ("Tawat WCG") and the password are correct. Thank you in advance for your assistance. ![]() |

Try the step-by-step instructions linked to from http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm

Thanks a lot lawrenchehardin. I am able to attach to a project now and have been crunching since. It feels good to be back and pitch in for common good again.
Just for the benefits of other beginners, I have visited the web page indicated above (which clearly explains each step) and followed the instruction there several times before without success. I was successful this time because I changed the spelling of Project URL from "www.worldcommunitygrid.com" to "www.worldcommunitygrid.org" (from .com to .org). Silly me. ![]() |
