Today we went for a long bicycle trip and saw 2 of the feline house type in flattened state on the shoulder of the country road. Just now, whilst reading the weekly digest of curious news, saw this item at BBC:
5. Drivers in the French countryside must leave at least a metre-and-a-half's gap when overtaking cats. More details (The Daily Telegraph) . French cats get older. And this is funny. On some country and main city roads here they've installed radar and big digital displays [solar cell powered] indicating the motorvehicles speed as a form of positive feedback hoping to induce a modification on your good traffic behavior. If a little fast, you're fine and the numbers blink a bit, but when more than a little fast, it tells you the number of demerits on your drivers license it could cost. So there was one, whilst we cycled on, who went 67km where 50 is allowed getting the indication of "-5 punti". The motorist, could have thought a lot, but apparently little suggesting smarts as 150 meters behind that indicator sign is a permanent camera installation taking snapshots in case the breaks were not operated, and a light on top that starts spinning to tell it took a picture. The light started spinning. LoL we did. |
