Re: Why is my program not returning results to the grid?

On the other hand, there are some built in delays. It may be too early to tell. Results will not be credited until two other members complete the same workunit.
I thought this to be a feature of BOINC only but not of the UD Agent. wink

How soon I forget. I have indeed seen a new points total immediately after the next UD version workunit starts.

I think that there are still three results out there being submitted to the researchers.

BOINC grabs the three workunits and awards an AVERAGE number of points to all three. Even though that is an average, there is a conversion later from BOINC points to WCG statistics points. And then, there's team points...

repulse_monkey f.k.a. jledahl responding back:
thanks guys. eventually figured it out myself before seeing the replies. it was the problem mentioned earier, wrong screenname. dang.

hey, on a sort of different topic, i've only recently gotten into this, and am wanting to help out more. i'd like to spend about $500-600 building my own crunching machine/s. but i'm barely tech savy. my friend is more so than i, but both of our heads together might not be enough. are there a few particular resources i should go to to figure out how to set up the hardware, software, etc.?...

hi jledahl,

good that you managed to get to the 'Statistics' section of the 'Problem Reporting ' questionnaire, without our help wink

For those tweakers/builders tips, visit the chat room.... there are threads on that and lots of savvies to point the way.

cheers

Re: Why is my program not returning results to the grid?

I have the same problem: My BOINC agents are working fine, but on Windows I haven't had a single result accepted since Feb 28th. I have completed several work units though, and the UD agent continues to retrieve new ones and beaver away at them.

My agent is v3.0 (2844) - do I need to upgrade perhaps? How?

Thanks

The bolded part is different.... you mean BOINC on Windows has not returned a good result since Feb 28? How do you know, where do you look? Does the Message Tab log show error entries? Does the Result Status page on the My Grid pages show 'error' or 'invalid' for work units? Please work thru the 'Issue?' page in link below and report back.

I don't use BOINC on Windows; I use a United Devices agent. I first noticed the issue on the statistics page (My Devices), where I can see that no results seem to have appeared since the end of Feb. The device ID is 345426, the Device Name is P4.

On the Windows agent, there is no Message Tab, so I can't see what's going on in any detail. The Result Status page on My Grid doesn't show a single result from this machine - it's almost as if it has become disassociated from my account somehow?

Re: Why is my program not returning results to the grid?

Disassociated.... Okay, what *name* is in right hand top "member information" section of your agent? The screenshot below is the same as the one 6-7 posts up in this thread.

P4 rings a bell.... there's a member with that name, but has not returned a result since 03/06/2007 18:17:18 confused

If you run BOINC on your other machines, why not on the windows box(es)?

The name shown is "amertner" :) Everything looks good, but the results just aren't shown on My Grid for some reason - the last result is shown as returned on 02/28/2007 05:16:28.

I run the UD agent on Windows because it's what I've done from day 1 and it's seemed to work - the BOINC one is on Linux of course. Should I use BOINC on Windows too?

Cheers

Re: Why is my program not returning results to the grid?

If u see results go to 100% and new ones started, than suggest to send a mail to Contact_US with member name the device is registered to, the Device ID and ask for investigation.

If you run BOINC on Linux already, what easier thing to do than move Windows on there too.... you can manage your devices from a single agent and the many other benefits like the mentioned message logging.
