Let's start with the important stuff first!
---------------------------------------- We have more good milestones today so we continue to move forward as a team. We had an addition to our active crunching ranks today. When I can, I am going to have to tweak my "stats cooker" again as it finds new members but doesn't report on retired members rejoining the team. That was the addition to our active crunching ranks today - largethunder. It's good to have you back Al! When you can, check your registration to the team website and make sure your e-mail address is correct please. What we need to focus on as a team is on first getting more members returning results each day. We have 99 members who have returned a result in the past 30 days. Only 52 of those 99 returned a result today. Next we need to work on recruiting new members. When you do, please make sure that you also point out our team thread here and have them register for the team website. To the extent we can get more folks active here in the team thread (as a start), the better informed everyone will be and I think we'll have better results at both retaining members and encouraging them to remain active. In all honesty, we've had very little content on the team website. As a start, I'm slowly but surely working on getting the information we currently use in the team thread header updated and on our website. I fully plan on continuing beyond that to add even more content about the WCG and MOT. The thought is to give us something we can use to help recruit members and make sure that they know what we have to offer. To those of you who "lurk" here, please take a moment and post here on occasion. That's good for me (yes, it can get discouraging to be the only or one of 2-3 posters here) and it's good for crunchers looking thru the team threads for a team to join. It's good to see some more members posting here pretty regularly lately. As for when someone leaves the team, it's easy to jump to conclusions. Let's try to remember to give folks the benefit of the doubt. I know I hate to see anyone leave the team and many of you feel the same. Unfortunately, WCG's emphasis on privacy (which is a good thing) makes it more difficult for team members to keep in touch and communicate. We have 99 members (out of about 250 that haven't formally retired from the team) that are crunching regularly (albeit by my own rather arbitrary definition). Of that, we currently have only about 50-55 of them returning a result on any given day. Of that, we have about half a dozen or so who post here in this thread with any sort of regularity. My "educated" guess is that we have maybe as many as a dozen members "lurking" - reading but not posting here. We seem to have several non-members that follow our thread as well. If we are more active about posting here periodically - even once a month - it will be much more practical to ask members to let us know if they are planning to leave the team. Circumstances don't and won't always allow that but more communication is usually a good thing. It will also make it a lot easier to know what the team wants to see and try to provide that. I'm having to do an awful lot of guessing so far. We always want to work on our recruiting. We can't "rest on our laurels". Better communications will help us keep members, recruiting will increase our ranks. We will lose members no matter what we do. That's just the way life is. There's no lack of understandable reasons for why that can happen. We will survive just fine. I hope I've given everyone some good ideas. Let's focus on keeping crunching and on moving forward. There's no reason MOT can't have a great future ahead of us. Thanks to each of you! Your Captain..... |

Hey Dudes
It's the start of the Easter weekend here in London and currently chilling in the Apple Store on Regent Street, off Oxford Street. Unfortunately my electric card ran out of juice and returned home with no electric so charging up the mac, why not both net and power are free here, cool! Shame I can't play my ps3 until Tuesday  Should be cranking back up the results All best Wardy  |
