confused Invalid Results

Hi,

I've just noticed that in the last week or so (since 7th/8th Feb) I've had c. 45 invalid resuults on this project, evenly distributed over all my systems. Looking at the results I can see I'm not the only one having trouble - there appear to be many results that have been crunched 7 or 8 times in order to get quorum.

Typical of this is the following result....

10000550-10001136_ -- Valid 02/16/2007 16:53:29 02/16/2007 21:15:48 3.88 20.2 / 18.3
10000550-10001136_ -- Valid 02/16/2007 09:42:24 02/16/2007 16:51:41 1.27 17.8 / 18.3
10000550-10001136_ -- Valid 02/16/2007 00:19:50 02/16/2007 09:41:23 2.51 16.5 / 18.3
10000550-10001136_ -- Valid 02/15/2007 20:35:56 02/16/2007 00:18:10 0.78 18.7 / 18.3
10000550-10001136_ -- Invalid 02/14/2007 16:21:47 02/15/2007 20:34:14 0.88 18.2 / 9.2
10000550-10001136_ -- Invalid 02/14/2007 16:21:22 02/14/2007 22:13:57 1.59 15.1 / 9.2
10000550-10001136_ -- Invalid 02/14/2007 16:21:07 02/15/2007 11:41:00 2.10 14.1 / 9.2

Given that I've been crunching project this for a while, and my systems have not changed, is there an explanation for this?

Regards,

Jonathan.

Re: Invalid Results

I've looked at some of your past posts, but never saw u telling us any agent details e.g. version or OS..... that helps narrowing the problem substantially!

GC just had just a new version released 5.12 Feb 15th/16th, to reduce disk writing.

PS: The more Invalids, the more Valids are required for a quorum.

Re: Invalid Results

Note sure this is a 5.12 issue - Invalids started spiking a week before.

All my systems run Win XP, and use BOINC 5.4.11.

Cheers,

Jonathan.

Re: Invalid Results

Ji Jonathan,

What i tried and seemingly failed to convey was, that with BOINC GC science version 5.12 the problem may have alleviated itself. The disk i/o was quite intense on pre 5.12 which could have carried timing issues with it (analogues to other posts folk running FAAH from USB memory sticks and moving the files to HD ridding the problem).

Can u post all message log entries related to the WU u posted the quorum for and your machine ID, so this can be investigated (if the problem persists with 5.12)

cheers

PS, done many GC's on various PC's and never a hitch.

Re: Invalid Results

If I see an issue with a 5.12 WU I will report. These do indeed all appear to be 5.11 errors so can be 'ignored'.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Re: Invalid Results

ah monkey from sleeve.... 5.11(?) i did not get. My BOINCview logs show 5.10 thru Feb.9 (from buffered work loaded before Feb 7, then nothing till Feb.18 and done a few with 5.12 without issue. They validated. I'll drop a note to the technicians to have a look.
