why are shifted characters not allowed in the password field? (I hate that.)

I never can understand why web designers won't allow shift chr's in the passwd fields.

Can someone explain the thinking behind that?

What do you mean by shift chr's? You can hold down the shift key and enter a letter and it will be case sensitive.

Confirming what nelsoc said, my password is upper/lower case, numeric, etc. Now if you're referring to "alternative" characters, such as ALT-### on a PC, then maybe they are not allowed, but shifted characters (i.e. A vs a, S vs s) are definitely allowed.

I have run into some sites that don't allow the password complexity that I've come to expect for security (punctuation, uppercase, special characters). WCG doesn't appear to be one of those.
