Same story, a bit more expanded and colourful, directly from the Harvard Gazette: http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2001/01.24/01-stoplight.html

Added: Includes a second article on 'Shrinking computers'

Re: Weird/Cool Science thread

That has to be one of the coolest things I have ever read. Mind boggling.
Starting and stopping light.

Cheers

Re: Weird/Cool Science thread

There's some upheaval in the (maybe envious) scientific world regarding this quantum computing, but only saw one article in none-English which I'd give some credence to questioning the reality of what they say they can.

In another variation on the weird/cool science theme, more on light:
After a Short Delay, Quantum Mechanics Becomes Even Weirder
http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2007/216/4

Who knows will the Pons hook up with Fleishman again soon..... to come up with cold quantum fusion thinking
