A gene a day?

From this thread it appears we predict 30,000 structures per gene (or is that for beta testing only)?

we need 30,000 structures per gene

Yesterday, HPF2 returned 28,000 results...so we predict about a gene a day? How many genes are we predicting? biggrin

Re: A gene a day?

hmmm is it 'per gene', or is it 'per protein'.... will the true scientist stand up.

it's 'not' in my genes ;>)

Re: A gene a day?

Hello esoteric17,
It is possible for HPF2 to create and score multiple trial structures for a given protein in a single run. I do not know how many we are doing.

Re: A gene a day?

Greetings,

It is hard to give you an exact number but it is about 1-2 genes per day are being finished. This is because multiple structures are being calculated in each of the results being shown.

Re: A gene a day?

How many in the project? Looked at the last update of Dr. Bonneau, concluding on Nov.10' 2006 "more in a few weeks".... Maybe a little nudge would be in order (pretty please).

Re: A gene a day?

Actually, I just looked at the stats and we have been averaging over 5 genes per day. That is about 30,000 structures per gene. "Results" returned usually contain a number (which varies) of structures for a given gene.

Also, in case you have not checked the link from our research pages, you might want to read about the Malaria related genes being processed here: HPF2 updates.

Re: A gene a day?

I think the question is not being answered.... whilst we now know how many genes approximately are done per day, how many are there in the total body of work planned for the whole duration of the HPF2 project - today. That would allow a rough extrapolation of the total WU's to be done and thus provide a very guesstimated date of the initial body of work. Right now, it's like open ended. If so, than batch like updates of what is being worked on, like the malaria reference will keep the members 'connected'...... Pretty please fill in that desire!

thx

PS well after mile 1, but well before mile 26 is very vague.
