Seeing these errors again. This happened on 6 different machines at the end of December. The only way I could get the machines to start processing work again was to go to C:\Program Files\BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org, delete all the files then tell BOINC to retry communications. BOINC would then try to get the same .faa file again. The same error would happen again. I would repeat the steps again deleting all the files. After doing that a few times in a row BOINC would finally get a new .faa file and work would continue. This only seems to be happening since I started getting FCG work units.

Several old threadS discussed and offered the solution and included a comment from knreed that a fix was coming in the next BOINC release. The root cause is in the fact that an interrupted download of FCG work cannot be resumed where it left off.

Seemingly the retry of the specific failing download does not stop the crunching and retrieval of new work. It's just talking and logging a lot of these attempts. Observation by Retsof is in this thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=10068#78648
----------------------------------------Been using the 'select computer' option on the advanced menu to check up and control agents on other machines. Checking once in a while. With BOINCview and a refresh every 30 seconds ** in fact, you can have all computers, tasks and completed work in single views for the Argus eye. ** Tried and it accepts refresh values of 999 seconds, so very little network burden.

The BOINC client 5.8.8 was just released to the public for Windows and Mac (Linux should be available soon). If you are experiencing download problems with Genome Comparison then please upgrade to this version.

If you are experiencing download problems with Genome Comparison then please upgrade to this version. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php Have any changes been made to 5.8.8 since Wed Jan 31 02:54:00 GMT+00:00 2007? That's when I installed 5.8.8 on my Vista machine. If no changes have been made I'm good to go with that one. If changes have been made I need to do a little maintanence. I've had the MD5 Check Failed problem too. A LOT! I think it's caused as much by my internet provider going offline regularly as it's caused by anything else. Can be looked at two ways..... The dang bug that causes the problem should be fixed AND/OR my dang internet service should stay online 24/7 since they don't give me any credit for not being online 24/7. I just delete the problem WU's when I get that error..... Hopefully 5.8.8 will take care of that problem. -- This post has been edited for inappropriate language - nelsoc [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 4, 2007 5:24:36 PM] |

The numbers on release always increment.... even with a letter like last week 5.8.6A.
----------------------------------------All is fine here and for most. If i get GC, which i get 10+ a day, i'll pull the wire on the 5.8.8. machine mid transmission and see how it recovers.

I know what I'll be doing to the rest of my machines today {{ Still cann't get it to run as a service though }} |
