Computer is together, Vista is installed, and BOINC is downloading as I type this (on the new computer with Vista). I'll update later.

I've been using Boinc 5.4.9 on a laptop since Dec 5 with build 5744 of Vista without trouble. I had a desktop running a post-RC1 and then RC2 Vista for several months without trouble, but the novelty wore off so I went back to XP on that because of issues unrelated to BOINC.


Same story for me: have been running BOINC 5.4.11 on a laptop since early december on Vista without any problems.

Just a follow up FYI.... I have been running 5.8.5 on Vista since Fri Jan 26 03:01:59 GMT 2007 with no problems that I've noticed. smile

Great, just don't touch the advanced-preferences. In fact more reports surfaced that 5.8.5. is quite buggy..... 5.8.6a is out and 5.8.7 comes out any moment. :O

....bottom line for me....I've been running BOINC on a Vista Ultimate machine {{1.8 centrino w/750+- RAM lappie}} for 4 or 5 months now ...[several versions of BOINC]...without a hiccup ((except the MD5 nightmares that had nothing to do with Vista or BOINC))....it's been ROCK SOLID!!!!

The MD5 issue is passée as the compression was removed from the Genome Comparison project as of yesterday. BOINC 5.8.9 is now available which should also fix some work fetch issues (not declared stable though, but have been running it for past 8 hours without a hitch).
