Hello all readers,
this project was launched a week before christmas. it seems a few details and bugs concerning the app are under investigation i red here that as soon as the devs would have time for it, they would do their best my Q : is it me or this project is not interesting anybody ? i m talking of the community as well as for the developpers. 1000 results a day..... let s see.... my half cpu does 10 per day...... that doesnt sound like a lot of people....... bugs ? i ve seen 2 or 3 people reporting some...... once again, not really a flood of mails & comments....... so what s wrong, is it because it s a french project ? or is it because it was awaited for many years, so people can keep on waiting ? some people that are concerned with this cannot wait forever..... it would be nice to read some activity here, interest, feedback, call it the way you want really, it would florent |

The reason the project is running slow is because the press releases have not gone out yet. The current project (HCMD Phase 1) does not have that many work units but it is important in that the researchers will use the Phase 1 results for analysis in preparation of a much larger project (HCMD Phase 2) which is scheduled to start in August of 2007. The press releases in France will go out on Monday, January 22. There will be another round of press releases in early February. So we want this project to run slow for now so that Phase 1 does not finish before the press releases go out. We are not in charge of the press releases as the content and timing of press releases are in the hands of the organizations which run the research. We hope this information is helpful.

And i was waiting the green light from Decrypthon to communicate about that project in the North of France. The press releases in France will go out on Monday, January 22. There will be another round of press releases in early February. how much unit remains to crunch before the end of the Phase 1 ? We have crunch during one month, thus there would remain nothing any more one month to crunch ? Après avoir été testé sur la grille des gros calculateurs du programme Décrypthon, le projet d’assemblage moléculaire coordonné par Alessandra Carbone (Université Pierre et Marie Curie / Unité Inserm 511) va ainsi bénéficier du second niveau de la grille Décrypthon, à savoir de la puissance de calcul de près de 500 000 ordinateurs personnels dans le monde. 0.62% at 28,607 units returned.
----------------------------------------The project is now official and only now can be throttled up. A very rough estimate given that the WU count is not known (to me) and No reference data is available to come to a better estimate other than '2 weeks work equivalent if it were the only project for WCG'. That equates to 2,000 CPU years.... we've done 12 and it only runs on UD agent. Just select it in your UD Agent profile...... jobs are relatively short, no problems reported since x-mas and uses 4mb RAM, 8 mb swap file :O More accurate estimate of volume was requested. cheers

Effectively, the project is now official.
----------------------------------------Every one that participated to the first Decrypthon received today a newsletter to inform that HDMC is started. I hope this news will bring a lot of members to WCG. For info, the first Decrypthon was planned to work for one year and in fact, we were more than 72 000 members to run that project and it finished in less than 3 months. |

Pour l'instant je suis un peu déçu, aucun grand médias n'a repris l'information presque 2 jours après la sortie du communiqué de presse. C'est vrai que pour l'instant, c'est assez timide.
----------------------------------------Mais le week-end arrive. Espérons que les gens prennent plus de temps pour regarder ce qui se passe et s'inscrire. Par contre, effectivement, aucun média national n'a relayé l'information. Je persiste et signe, c'est vraiment dommage et je pense une grave erreur de n'avoir pas parlé du Décrypthon lors du dernier Téléthon. C'était le moment d'attirer le plus de monde possible, même s'il fallait prévenir que le projet allait démarrer dans les semaines à venir. Il était toujours possible d'inviter les gens à s'inscrire sur la newsletter pour être averti du démarrage du Décrypthon pour ceux qui auraient préféré attendre le vrai démarrage. |
