Running BOINC Linux applications on FreeBSD or OpenBSD

FreeBSD is now an officially supported platform for WCG. However, you will need Linux emulation installed and enabled, since the science applications downloaded from WCG are only available as Linux binaries. Source is not available for them.

The port maintainer has an excellent guide to BOINC and FreeBSD.

tdfs84 has a post explaining how to run BOINC on OpenBSD at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16481

6 March 2008 knreed posts about a change in BOINC which requires a change in the cc_config.xml file to run FreeBSD: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=18901#154839

Another Start Here post about FreeBSD: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4925#117237
