Team,
Accidentally unplugged my laptop and the task suspended for a minute or two but upon plugging it back in, here is the error I got: 1/5/2007 10:34:43 PM||Suspending computation - on batteries 1/5/2007 10:34:43 PM|World Community Grid|Pausing task B14592_0118_CTMA1B-7-2-20-c2_0 (removed from memory) 1/5/2007 10:34:43 PM||Suspending network activity - on batteries 1/5/2007 10:35:10 PM||Resuming computation 1/5/2007 10:35:10 PM||Rescheduling CPU: Resuming computation 1/5/2007 10:35:10 PM||Resuming network activity 1/5/2007 10:35:10 PM|World Community Grid|Restarting task B14592_0118_CTMA1B-7-2-20-c2_0 using hdc version 514 1/5/2007 10:35:11 PM|World Community Grid|hdc not responding to screensaver, exiting 1/5/2007 10:35:14 PM|World Community Grid|Unrecoverable error for result B14592_0118_CTMA1B-7-2-20-c2_0 ( - exit code -1 (0xffffffff)) 1/5/2007 10:35:14 PM|World Community Grid|Deferring scheduler requests for 1 minutes and 0 seconds 1/5/2007 10:35:14 PM||Rescheduling CPU: application exited 1/5/2007 10:35:14 PM|World Community Grid|Computation for task B14592_0118_CTMA1B-7-2-20-c2_0 finished 1/5/2007 10:35:14 PM|World Community Grid|Starting task 10000564-10000666_0 using fcg1 version 510 Seems like we are developing a pattern. Perhaps the HDC team should check out their code on a laptop with Suspend/Resume. |

Hello pcr,
Have you set your profile to remove the program from memory or keep it in memory when suspended? Lawrence |

I checked my profile and mine was set to NO on Leave applications in memory when preempted. However, the application itself obviously has some problems when run on a device that goes to sleep. I reported earlier that it bombed when it woke up from the screensaver. That happened again today:

To sleep as in 'Standby Mode' is a known issue where not all critical files are saved properly by the OS (parts remain in RAM under power). Using Hibernation rarely causes a problem on resumption. Use it all the time and never (rarely), misses a beat.

I cant find the post at the moment where someone 1 or 2 days ago was reporting the zero length file reporting under BOINC, but here's something interesting on the standby mode, since i cant get the hibernation to start due 'lack of resource' error. When i suspend the agent first (The activity, suspend option) before going into standby -leaving the power adapter on juice -, there is no zero length error. If i dont suspend and come out, there is a zero file error, BUT, the work unit always recovered to complete with validation.
----------------------------------------This is very latest greatest C2D, so experience may be different for others. On the machine where hibernation works, same modus operandi..... snooze first and allow it to flush whatever there is to flush to VM before starting the hibernation routine. Unplugging of 110/220 can be done without penalty. Been nine days since last boot and no zero length entries are logged. Added: Here's the missing post: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11605#85830 by duanra Added: Snooze is not advised as it works on wall-clock. Coming out of Standby/Hibernation, the snooze period has passed already and BOINC tries resuming before a full awakening. It produces sometimes a zero length file, but always looks to recover.

Start by describing what was going on on your machine prior to these errors, & past part of the message log prior 'unrecoverable' entry. Than, give the basic background to the questions in the 'problem reporting' link below.

Although the forum is in English, you can post in Japanese. Very probably someone will respond. 1. Looks like u want to run BOINC in screensaver mode after after 30 minutes idle? Is the screensaver time setting longer than idle time setting? See Advice about BOINC Screensavers for instructions for BOINC. 2. Recommend to change the switching time to 240 minutes for efficiency. Although 5.8.15 waits for checkpoints to switch project, the switching takes time to reload next project on schedule, particular with large models like CPDN and HDC and 'leave in memory' off. 3. Does BOINC run 2 projects simultaneous? Suggest for an HT computer to set processors to 1. Particular running 2 Help Cancer Jobs in parallel on an HT processor is extremely demanding. Could not find a specific cause for 'exit code -529697949' other than memory related issues ("That's an out of memory exception error for the LLR application. Nothing you can do about it."). Can your Virtual Memory Grow enough (set in Control System Panel)? On 4. u specify 10gb, but is there like 2gb available as per the system requirement pages?
