Do scores from UD transfer to this program or do I start new?
I had over 70 years cpu on UD but did gave up when it the project news was so scarce. Second is there a way to run BOINC as a service ie not in the system tray. I already have many things in my system tray and would prefer to remove it |

UD (grid.org) is a totally separate project.
----------------------------------------WCG also has a slightly different UD.EXE option, which could be part of the confusion. WCG BOINC statistics will be converted to WCG points and added to WCG UD points though for overall statistics here. This link mentions running BOINC as a service, and also points to the unofficial BOINC wiki that has more. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=10402#80433

The uninstall of the old grid.org says it went, it is no longer in the control panel and I do not see any united devices folder on my pc.
However when I try to run wcg agent It comes up in the system tray showing my old UD stats (74 years etc). It is also not connecting to the network to get new work units. Any idea of what I need to search and delete to make the old grid.org go away? |

Hello georgetpug,
The UD client, whether WCG or grid.org, does not make any serious changes in the Registry. All you need to do (assuming that you were not running it as a service or running UD Monitor) is remove it from Startup then use Windows Explorer to search for UD.exe. When you find it, delete the directory that it is in. Then download and install from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewJoinNow.do Lawrence |

The UD client is in C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid?

If you used the default install, that is where it is placed

That's where the WCG UD agent is installed. However, the grid.org UD agent or any other UD agents may be installed to different locations.

The default for Grid.org is C:\program files\United Devices. The recognition of which one is running is easy. Grid shows as a blue pill, WCG with it's well know iconised logo. They are absolutely not compatible and their hardcoding makes positively sure, that the Grid agent gets Grid.org work as with the WCG agent getting WCG work.
