After the recent server usage my BOINC agent version 5.4.9 on Fedora Core seems to have gotten confused and wants to wait a very long time before it connects again. The following is in my error log:
2006-12-22 03:58:57 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request failed: a timeout was reached 2006-12-22 04:14:41 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request failed: a timeout was reached 2006-12-22 05:06:18 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request failed: a timeout was reached 2006-12-22 05:09:25 [World Community Grid] Scheduler list fetch failed: http error 2006-12-22 05:09:25 [World Community Grid] 4 consecutive failures fetching scheduler list - deferring 604800 seconds How do I clear this and make it try to connect again? |

Well, I can't speak to the LINUX version but on Windows, there's an Update button on the projects tab plus there's Retry Communications under Advanced on the Action bar. There should be some sort of equivalent, maybe command line, for LINUX.

I'm using the command line version and there is a return_results_immediately option but when I run it I get lots of this

I don't know why it needs the GUI to do this though. |

Check the read only issues at the top of the forum.

I did read that but I would like to be able to force my client to check instead of having it sit there for a week before it tries again.

return_results_immediately is a command line option, and I think it was removed from the current version. It doesn't do what you want, anyway.
Assuming you have the client running on your local machine, you need to use boinc_cmd to send a message (RPC) to the client, to tell it to update or retry. IIRC, the command you need is: boinc_cmd --project www.worldcommunitygrid.org update If you are connecting to a remote machine, you will have to set up the authorisation. Please ask for further help with this. If the client isn't running, then you can just start the client with the -update_prefs www.worldcommunitygrid.org option. |
