seems HPF2 runs VERY Few CPU cycles when GridRepublic is running? All other WCgrid projects run fine. I have to exit from GridRepublic when HPF2 is the current project selected.

This is a known issue when running HPF2 simultaneously with another grid agent. See this thread:

It's a known issue for HPF2 only. It is set at an even lower priority as other 'idle time' DC processes like GridRepublic and BOINC. If u set the UD Agent throttle to maximum, it will run, but still very slow. On multicore machines where one can control the 'affinity', assigning 1 core to WCG(UD) agent and the other to Grid Republic would make it run normal with HPF2. In case of BOiNC, the number of cores used can be controlled in the device profile.

HPF2, as well as other BOINC projects all run at the lowest possible priority. All things being equal, they should share any CPU idle time equally. Currently, there is a "contention" issue with HPF2 (UD) if run concurrently with another grid agent (e.g. BOINC), on the same CPU. I know what the problem is and hope to have a solution shortly.

Hey
It's running exceptionally smooth on my system. Fight Aids ... is kool, but each job is so long. PF2 works very fast! |

Thank You Rick.
Please notify me when there is a solution. I try to EXIT out of Grid Republic when HP2 runs and wait until it finishes before returning to Grid Republic... TRY is the key... many days I just skip allowing HPF2 to run since GR is running for 11 other projects as well. Bob |

Is this problem fixed? I just downloaded and installed the very latest version of UD, and the first WU downloaded was something other than HPF2, so I won't know until it tries HPF2. I'm running d.net and WCG simultaneously. |

Tip of the week is removing all throttle references from the registry that are generated by the Throttle tool. Use the environment variable WCGRID_MAX_CPU=100 (system level, not user level) and install Threadmaster which allows total control of all processes including Grid Republic. See other posts discussing the set up.
----------------------------------------I'm not sure what the benefit of Grid Republic is over regular BOINC, other than it being kind of equal to the BOINC Account Manager (BAM) system but with a limited project choice. If u switch to regular BOINC, u can attach WCG thus the HPF2 project to it and run it in shared resource as GR does and pick from some 40+ projects

I can see that WCG (running the UD client) shares nicely for all projects, except HPF2 where it gets a trickle of CPU time. |
