I notice there are a few threads on HDC errors, but I thought I'd let the community know of the one that has just occurred on my computer, which is a rather worrying unhandled exception. The relevant section of the result log is this:

FYI: The computer that this workunit ran on has successfully completed several hundred workunits before, originally using the UD agent, and more recently via the BOINC client. Fraz, this looks like a timeout due to the checkpointing problem http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=10081 . A fix is being tested.

This has now happened to me twice now. Over 2*30 hours of running, with an error and zero credit. Pretty annoyed with this project, and have currently deselected it until you can resolve these problems.

rather than start another thread, i thought it would work here.

Read about a client_state.xml related error on BOINC Dev. You don't reveal the version you are working with. 5.8.11, The latest could resolve that on a permanent basis. Resetting certainly removes all WCG related entries in this very critical file.
----------------------------------------Ah jah, there was a suspected conflict with virus checking software. We're on the same page with getting a flashy icon in the Systray when something is real fowl with BOINC like stalling or idling.
