Look out folks, I've got some HPF2 WUs that are taking 35 hours to crunch on the dual P3 587MHz OC'd monster. In comparison, there are others taking about 5 hours to crunch a similar WU.

Gawd Chowbow!!!
Is that one of the monster units they were talking about!!!??? My little duron still takes 24 hours for FAah units. Everything else flies. Checkpoints for HPF2 are few and far between on ud, but u use boinc,Right? A little bump for our team! Hey Akela!!! ![]() |

I am using BOINC on all but 1 of my PCs. I keep UD on one PC because one of the research projects is only available on UD.
The P3 monster is running on BOINC because it is a dual processor machine and can crunch 2 WUs at the same time. FAAH WUs can take forever on that little sucker too! |

Nope, just using stock speeds though I may have to cut back a bit in the summer since I don't have A/C at my home and my desktop is usually near 60 C for its temperature, while the indoor temperatures are around 24 C, though the BOINC does get to use up to 90% of the processor, figuring I'd leave a little for all my other programs to use some of the power of the machine. Sometimes my machine may get more done than other days, or maybe there is something to my laptop doing work mostly Monday to Friday and getting the weekend off to rest.
Regards, JB |

This morning I'm adding my work machine that is normally on 24/7 that while I do use it to do work when I have something to do, it just sits idle most of the time and so this seems like a reasonable thing to at least try out so if my stats shoot up that'll be why though it is a lowly P4 3.0 GHz machine with 1 GB of RAM that is over a year and a half old now.

Hey Ya JC, jbking & Chowbow
That lil cruncher , jbking, is hardly lowly. Most of us still have somethin similiar. But, I do believe that most of the CPU power, individually, is over 1GHz per machine. Quite alot of diverse crunchers worldwide! I can't wait to get a dual core machine, Chowbow! I will dedicate that one to BOINC. I guess FAaH is just a more intensive crunch, regardless of construction of our machines. And I'm getting a high confidence level that the dam is gonna break this year, with at least a very good vaccine, or single med, with regards to HIV. Precisely because of this research. Paradigm behavior? You'd better believe it. And we are at the forefront. Pride is vicarious, but the humility of how we are helping is truly overwhelming sometimes. ![]() |
