- -progress stays at '0' execute time- -

Hello; Ron and Gloria here from Eastern USA. Currently this system is running Proteome_Folding_2 (in theory).

For the last 141 hours of 'task executing' the progess has completed '0%'. The clock keeps running as the progress stays at '0'.

HELP PLEASE

Hello Ron and Gloria,
We hope that we have solved this problem with the new version 5.1.2.0 release of HPF2 ( http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=9648 ).

I suggest that you kill it by using Task Manager (right-click on bottom of screen, select Task Manager) to select wcg_hpf2_*** and kill the process. This should cause the UD client to download a new work unit and the new application program.

My second HPF2, now on 5.1.2.0 where first one was on 5.1.1.0 taking forever, is still no speed daemon, but at least it is progressing steady and visibly.... 75% in 32 hours :( All wallclock hours are credited, so let it run :|

cheers

Hello Lawrence;
Hello Sekerob;
Hello others;

So, I closed the WCG operation via the task manager. Then, I downloaded , from the 'WCG join page'; the version it offered (believe it was 1.5 megs in size). When this EXE file started up in wanted to uninstall my current WCG stuff; OKAY.

So, I clicked on the EXE file again and it did a quick install of itself to my 1.6 gig CPU system. Then the sign-in screen came up and accepted me and things went to the normally 'in the background' window. It talked to the server and re-established my total points and device info and said it was in a HPF_2 operation with 'task executing'.

Guys, is there something disgustingly obvious that I am missing?? This will be my third try at trying yo 'break the code' in my little home made computer world.

Thanks, Ron Mayne in Souteast PA USA

Ron and Gloria,

Is it still showing 0%?? The fact that it says task executing means it is working on HPF2. Can you please go into the Graphics...click the i in the bottom right of your agent...to see if any graphics are being produced?

Hello uplinger;

Yes, the 'i' graphic shows up in good order. It's info is: Ver 5.1.2.0

CPU throttle = 60% progress after 4 hr 40 min = 0.5%

This homemade system is 1.6 gig CPU with 640MB of DDR RAM

I've been running seti@home and the WCG multi program for about a year on this machine. This WCG problem started about 10 days ago.

Thanks, Ron Mayne Southeast PA USA

There was no need for downloading a new UD. The termination of the wcg_xxxx.exe process would have automatically retrieved the new 'Science' version 5.1.2.0. Also UD agent itself (3.0 -2844) would be automatically updated if a new version were to come out.

Here a link to a screenshot (5.1.1.0): The wiggly lines on left should move, albeit in your case very slowly... http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q210/Sekerob/UDHPF2Screenshot.jpg

One thing has particular interest: When u open the taskmanager, and u sort the processes on CPU time, is there any particular that is getting a lot like 80/90 %? If 'idle cycle', than something is holding the UD agent. Try disconnecting from internet, then deactivate the firewall and antivir. On an other DC project read that uninstalling Outpost firewall, resolved the problem, so even switching off security may not identify which one is putting the breaks on.

Do u happen to have BOiNC running on the side (think not)? It's established that that will take all the time away from UD agent.

My UD agent with HPF2 5.1.2.0 is still for unknown reason very slow, but oddly, completed the last 20% in a few minutes..... seems the progress counter is still suffering from some leaps & bounds effects.

Let us know

PS, a little throttle tool is explained here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=7701 and can be obtained here: http://worldcommunitygrid.org/files/WCGridMaxCPU.exe and will allow to increase 60% to 100%.... no need to restart UD.... takes a few minutes to adapt.

Re: - -progress stays at '0' execute time- -

Hello Sekerob;

I should be in the thread to follow your most recent post; I hope. This 'thread' stuff is quite new to me. The BOINC and WCG have worked so well sharing this computer for more than a year.

I shut down BOINC seti@home about twelve hours ago and the WCG HPF_2 completed a complete run in this amount of time and has gone on to a 'fightaids@home' chore.

It would appear that I must get some parts and build an additional system if I choose to do BOINC seti@home any longer??????

Sekerob, thank you for your help in this matter.

Re: - -progress stays at '0' execute time- -

Hi Ron,

Why it is, is not known yet, but Alther in the other thread noted that in past BOiNC did not work too well together with UD agent on the same computer. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=10210#79444
With FA@H, GC and HDC u should be fine (empirically established that), it's only when HPF2 is on the UD(WCG) agent, does BOiNC not become agreeable. He proposed to at least set the UD throttle to 100% to give it more chance..... that is if u wish to continue running both side by side. HPF2 is beta tested on BOiNC this moment, thus if u select HPF2 in your BOiNC device profile, it should come to u the moment it goes life (presuming u have connected latter agent to WCG thru the project addition option).

cheers.

Re: - -progress stays at '0' execute time- -

Hi Sekerob;

So, with SA@H running in BOINC, I set the UD throttle to 100% and waited. Everything was fine (just as you said) until the UD worked through to another HPF_2. And, again the progress stayed a '0%'.

So, based on my lack of serious knowledge, for now I am going to leave HPF_2 out of the mix and run the rest of WCG with BOINC SA@H.

Life goes on as I just finished a 'routine stress test' at my local hospital today.

Be well,
