wall clock timeout for problem WUs?

I have WCG running on 130 computers at work. None of the users know (or care) whether or not WUs have problems or not. I noticed today that one of the computers has a Genome WU running at 66 wall clock hours and 0% complete. Is there any sort of timeout for these, or will it continue to run forever? My fear is that there are many computers out there which are endlessly crunching problem WUs and they will not abort unless they are manually aborted (which will lie on my shoulders to check every single one). Pity there is no "WCG Network Monitor" (like the UD Network Monitor) for those of us who run it enterprise-wide and have end users who could care less.

I will send to "Contact WCG" also, but:

Device ID: mmvvuu44
Project: Genome Comparison
Wall Clock: 66 hrs, 33 mins
Stuck at: 0% complete

wcggrid_fcg_search.exe uses 100% CPU when in use.

Re: wall clock timeout for problem WUs?

Most probably that computer still had a version 1.0.0.7 which showed that phenomena. Terminate the wcg_xxxxx.exe process in taskmanager and on the next GC download it should get a 1.0.0.8.

As for time-out. The UD agent has a time out build in of 14 days CPU and 3 weeks wall-clock.

cheers

Thanks! I'll kill that one but let any others just time out - I don't have the time or energy right now to check them all biggrin

I would not be surprised if the UD Network monitor worked with the WCG version of agent. The UD monitor does. I know some people use Remote Desktop to visit all their PC's. It's an XP Pro feature. Don't know about the home version.

Re: wall clock timeout for problem WUs?

I tried it out before but it didn't discover any of the WCG agents on the network - maybe there is some kind of setting or something I need to change.

I do have a remote administrator program which lets me control any PC on the network.... it's still rather painstaking to go through each PC though, given there are so many smile

Well, the penultimate answer is BOiNC + BOiNCview. Like a dream as far as monitoring is concerned.

Re: wall clock timeout for problem WUs?

I never modified UD Network Monitor to work with the WCG version.

However, it's looking increasingly like I'll need to revert some of my systems to the UD Agent, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this gets revisited in the not to distant future wink

Jonathan, you would be my savior if you modified the UD Network Monitor to work with WCG biggrin
