Error when trying to connect

Hello,

I'm trying to connect WCG on my Linux laptop, but get the following error:

Fri Nov 24 11:57:20 2006|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
Fri Nov 24 11:57:20 2006|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Requesting 86400 seconds of new work
Fri Nov 24 11:57:21 2006||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
Fri Nov 24 11:57:22 2006||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
Fri Nov 24 11:57:26 2006|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)
Fri Nov 24 11:57:26 2006|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Deferring scheduler requests for 12 minutes and 54 seconds

Is the project indeed down, or is BOINC doing something funny on my computer? I'm successfully attached to other projects.

Also, another problem: The credit reported on this site is not the same as that reported by sites like BoincStats - why is that? Here they say about 300, at BoincStats about 2200. Quite a difference...

Regards,
Kenneth

Re: Error when trying to connect

Hi Kenneth,

Are u using the latest official version for Linux, which can be found here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Looking at your stats it's been a few month ago (9) you were connected.... in the meantime security was upped which is implemented in the newer releases.

cheers

Re: Error when trying to connect

Hi,

I'm using version 5.5.6, which is the latest ebuild for Gentoo. Seems like this is a beta version though...
The reason I haven't been active the last months is because I've been working on other projects. But now it's time to return smile

Re: Error when trying to connect

Kenneth,

u need to revert to one of the official releases to get the complete set. The 5.5.x series had lots of problems and those distributions had some omissions related to security features.

cheers

Re: Error when trying to connect

Thanks, downgrading to version 5.4.11 worked perfectly wink

Now the question is, why does this site show that I have 2200 points while the client only shows 315?

Thanks for your quick help, Sekerob

Re: Error when trying to connect

Everything in BOiNC credits is multiplied by 7 to bring it up to par with the points system for the UD/WCG client. Those points are only visible on WCG.
