Re: Problem: Invalid Working Units in large numbers. Please help.

For you UPS with all the bells and whistles would be very expensive. The batteries alone would buy a couple nice machines. Bells and whistles include automatic OS shutdown/hibernation triggered by the UPS and a fairly long runtime after the mains go down.

UPS without the bells and whistles is much cheaper. One battery can supply hellacious current for a brief period and sometimes that's all you need. I am referring to the outages that last 1 or 2 minutes or even as short as 2 seconds. I built my own UPS for about $40 including battery. It cuts in very fast and will keep 8 machines going for about 5 minutes. It doesn't have auto system power down but oh well, sometimes I lose a few work units, it's not like they pay me to do this if you get my drift.

Re: Problem: Invalid Working Units in large numbers. Please help.

Hi mike047,
I have just noticed that a lot of these indicated invalids are from a similar time frame. 11-17 thru 11-20, friday thru monday of last weekend.
Any event here take place during that time frame??

laughing Up in Known Issues we list two problems. One of the two BOINC feeders went down, causing connection failures for half of the BOINC commo attempts. And the UD server got misconfigured, causing a long string of UD errors. But we don't (yet) know of any BOINC problems that would match up with what you are experiencing.

Looks like you are still using a optimised boinc client, because your claims are really high.
Try running the standard 5.4.11 client and your problem should be gone.

That's not a very good reason to give me half credit and declare my work invalid is it ???

That's a debatable point but WCG has taken the position that using a modified BOINC client that claims significantly more than the stock one is cheating and to put a stop to this any client that claims way above the norm is given 1/2 points.
The intent is to put us all on a level playing field and I can't argue with that logic.
Install the stock client and you'll be fine.
Good Luck!

Yes, froze over for me back in August. wink
Boinc is still not fair to Intels but I'm not going to fight it.
Just build systems that so totally overpower the AMD's that it equals out any disadvantages from BOINC.
Thanks for the welcome

Re: Problem: Invalid Working Units in large numbers. Please help.

All four invalid work units[inclucing the posted one] have cleared from my list. I do not know if they were judged to be accurate or if there is a display time limit.

Is it common for the invalid wu's to delete themselves after a period of time??
