Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

Hi:

I have been tracking the time duration needed to complete CEP2.

I was surprised when I discovered that it only took two days to go from 96% to 97% project complete. Whereas it took approx. two weeks to go from 95% to 96%. So based on the past record, it has taken two weeks to advance 1% to the goal of completing CEP2.

I am curious at why it only took two days to advance from 96% to 97% project completion. At this rate, CEP2 should be completed before the end of July.

Re: Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

The percentages for all projects did fast forward last few days, suggesting the process is manual. My interpretation is that the projection is 'defined work' based. New experiments wil be bolted on, at which time you wil see the progress skip backwards. How we know is reading the official news and scientists messages. smile

Re: Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

We got some updated numbers for CEP2, the progress is now around 62%.

Please remember that these values are just estimates and are subject to change anytime.

Thanks,

Re: Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

Thanks Keith for clarifying that. Very soon, I'm tempted to switch back to CEP2, so as to push that towards my Sapphire badge.

Re: Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

Hi Keith, I just want to be within 6 months of getting my Sapphire badge for MCM - which, isn't that far off. Once I'm there, I'll slowly run forwards with both projects (unfortunately, I don't have much 'umph' in terms of computer power - just a single quad-core lappy).

I was originally going to stick with my "green" badge for CEP2 - after all, it is for a "green" project biggrin

Based on new information about how much more work the researchers have to run, we've updated the CEP2 progress bar.

For more information on how we calculate the projected end date, visit our FAQs: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=timelines#678

Re: Are the CeP2 completion percentages accurate?

Purely time extrapolated from start, 62% makes it to continue to end of 2016. Since there has not been a hiatus in work since 2010, think that's a reasonable indicator.

This science could use a lot more volunteer support, but we need the staggered start enforcing. Multiple starting same time is less than pretty. With that much time remaining 2.5 years, what is stopping developers from implementing this?
