Phoca newbie questions - part 1
Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 04:06
Hi,
(I had to break up my questions into 2 posts since this forum has a character limit per post.)
Part 1:
I'm a newbie with Phoca Gallery but I know Joomla 2.5x very well. Today I downloaded and installed and configured Phoca Gallery on my J2.5.19 site.
I have never used Phoca extensions before but I downloaded the latest version and I read through the online documentation which was helpful. I found the tooltips in the site backend settings/config screens to be very helpful. But I still have some questions and I searched the forum for the answers but I could not find anything specific since most of the posts covered old versions of Joomla and Phoca. So I hope it's OK for me to ask all of my main questions in this one post...
1) Is it possible to allow Guests (non-registered users) to leave comments and ratings for images?
2) How can I use "internal comments" for allowing image comments? I searched the forum and found a post talking about "internal comments" but I don't know how to set that up. I don't want to install a third-party comments extension (Jcomments, etc.) since I don't want to add too many extensions that can slow down my site pages with Java, etc.
3) How can I adjust the choices available in the "Ordering" pagination drop-down list for sorting galleries? I don't need all of the default choices. I only want to use a few like hits, ratings, etc. so is it possible to enable/disable some of those choices? Or is that only possible with a core hack edit?
4) How can I remove/disable the "All" choice in the "Display Num" pagination drop-down list for sorting galleries? I don't need to show "All" because my galleries have hundreds of photos and it could timeout the browsers.
5) What's the best way to add more space for the description text underneath images in details views? If I have about 3+ lines of text for an image description it gets covered by the Rating stars and rating text about logging in to rate. Is there a way to adjust the amount of space at the bottom of an image to display more text so it's not covered up?
Thanks for any advice!
