Front end upload images to one common category

Hi,
is it possible to upload images from different logged users (so from the front end) to one common main category? Lets say I have one main category, I would like to have in common with all users, I will manually cerate them subcategories, then disable creation of new ones (already done) and now I would like to provide the logged user with ability to upload images to any of these subcategories. So far I can't do that because each logged user has to have his own main category.
And this is messing with my gallery view, because I can't have menu item for each main category of each user and it has to be flexible, so I can't just wait for each user to create his main category and then put them all under one big category ( if is it even possible).
Thanks for any advice.

Hi, in category view, everybody who has permissions, can upload to category, see:

Actually for me it's not true. Maybe I have something set up wrong, but when I log in the front end (no matter if I log as super user or just regular registered user), the Phoca Gallery force each logged user to create his own main category and subcategoriers.
Even when I change the rights (uploading, access) from all registred users to all registered and explicitly himself (so he is directly set as owner of all rights). Only if the owner of the main category log in, it can use his own main category.
Which is not usable for me.

Dear Magic 2012,
I´ve just had the same problem, only that users couldn´t even upload;
My workaround was to make a change in the menu from-> pg member administration to pg picture view. Then the user was able to see my created main categorie und to make subcategoies of his own and upload pictures.
Maybe this can be of some help for you.
Greetings

Hi,
I have the same problem. I would like every user to upload to pre-prepared category or to choose the category from list before uploading images. How can I do that?
Thank you so much for your help.

Dear Manuela,
I just created the categories in the backend and then let the registered users upload as described in my last post. When they login, they see the categorie(s), before they can upload they have to click it and then they can create their own undercategory and upload.
Maybe I could help.
Kindest regards

ok got it now by not using upload by phoca gallery but by phoca download
there they can not give a new category, only subcategory
but now when they make a subcategory it does not come in their own map
but just in the category as image
and on the website as individual images
i want the following
when users upload images with their own subcategory
that the images go into their own map in my userscategory
and in maps on the website

Hmm, I think, this needs to be customized directly in the code
