Can Phoca Download work for this?

Hi Jan, or anyone else that might be able to answer my question..
I am going to use hwdVideoShare - See here:
http://demo15.hwdmediashare.co.uk/
in order to have an area on my website where registered users can watch video lessons on my website. Then in the description of the video, I want to be able to include a link to download an associated PDF file for that video. I would like to use a download manager so I can track the statistics for each video lesson. There are several such components but I thought to check Phoca first because Jan makes the best Joomla components
Would I be able to accomplish such a thing?

Hi, just see Phoca Download (
https://www.phoca.cz/documentation/index.php/download ) and see how it works ... try it, it is free ...

if you will miss some function, just let me to so I can add it into a feature request list to get it for next versions...

It actually works perfectly! Is there another way to find the link to the file without using the front end component via a menu? I had to create a menu item for it and get the link for the file and then put that link in the video description for them to download. I set it to registered only and it works nicely =) What does the direct download link mean in the settings for the file?

Direct download means that the link to the file is direct:
a) not direct download link - link to script which send the file to the browser and tell browser that it should not be opened but downloaded
b) direct download link - direct link to your server so then it depends on your browser what it will do with the file (if zip file most of browser will download this file)

Jan,
I spoke to soon, it doesn't work perfectly. I was testing with the superadmin login in the front end. When I change it to a regular registered user, I get a 403 error when I click on the link.
Do you know why it's happening? Please go here:
http://72.249.174.153/media/hwdvideosha ... video_id=5
Login: jan
pass: phoca
And try to click the download link in the description of that video for the PDF. If you're not logged in, it sends you to the login page, if you are logged in, it sends you to a 403 error page. But if I login as superadmin, when I click the download link, the file downloads perfect.
EDIT:
I figured out the problem finally. It was because I had set the phocadownload menu item to be viewable only to the Special group of users. What I was trying to accomplish was to get the download link to the file, without having to actually use the front end of the component. But it's not a big deal because once they register they get access to all those files anyways so I'm not worried about it..

After all that I decided not to use that video gallery for this as it would be too confusing for the user.. Perhaps in the future when it becomes stable.. Oh well, thanks for the help though
