VM Product Detail Image Popup

Hi,
I have several images in VM setup as individual products. When I go to the product detail page I see a medium thumbnail of the product image. Below the image is a link labeled "Full Image". When I click that link it just takes me directly to the path of the full size image.
I would like the "Full Image" link to produce a popup with the full size image. I partly want to do this because at that point I can disable any right clicks and that will also give the users an "X" or close option instead of having to use their browsers "Back" button.
How could I achieve this? Should I do it through VM or Phoca Gallery?
