Hello -

I use Phocagallery 2.8.1 with Joomla 1.5.26

My problem is that when an image + description is added to a category (from front-end), the image and description save perfectly. But when the image is copied to a different category (from back-end) using "Multiple Add" - only the image appears, but not the description.

I have checked the database and it is true that the first occurrence (ID number) of the image, in the original category, contains description text. But the second occurrence in the new category does not contain description text.

Have you seen this before? Thank you in advance...

Hi, the multiple add function convert images stored on your server to images (items) in your gallery. The images itself do not have any description, so while converting, there is no description. (Search similar posts: different database and filesystem layer to get more information)

Thank you for the response, it makes sense. I've decided the best way to move images (in order to retain captions) will be to open each individual image up and change the category. I can't show the image+caption in different categories this way, but it is better than having to cut and paste all the captions.

(I'm hoping captions will be copied or mass-moved along with images in your 2.5 version!)

This year I'm using Phoca Gallery 3.2.3 for Joomla! 2.5 -- seeing the same problem with description not being transferred. Scenario is: photographer uploads photo and description to his private category from frontend via User Control Panel -- administrator then adds that photo via Multiple Upload to a public category -- description does not transfer and has to be hand-copied. Any other way that works faster to get image and description into the other category?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm aware that image and description are both posted to category when images are posted from frontend... my problem was that when images were copied in the backend to a different category, the description did not get copied along with the image.

However, just today we noticed something new at the very bottom of the Images tab... it is the "Batch process the selected images" area -- it allows us to copy images to different categories -- and it copies descriptions/captions right along with the image! So far it is working spectacularly!
