Files not displaying in the backend after upgrading

Hello everyone,
I have just upgraded to 2.1.4 and I am using Joomla 1.7.3. After the upgrade, files uploaded prior (to the upgrade) are displaying in the frontend but not in the backend.
I would really appreciate your help here. I would like to see the files in the backend as well as the frontend.
