Play button wont play mp3

Phoca download was functioning properly when my joomla site was at 1.6 ... i recently upgraded to 1.7 and now the component wont play songs. sometimes if i refresh the page it will play and then if i refresh the page again it wont. not sure whats causing it not to play. can you give me any ideas.
i had the newest version of the component running also. but i went back to an older version b/c i thought it was something wrong with the new version that was causing the problem but both versions are having the same problem. plz help
